Switched On

Switched On is a podcast for young people who are still figuring out who they are, where they’re going and what they want from life.

Hosted by Slade Hoare and Chi Yin, the show brings together raw, honest conversations with people who have faced challenges, taken risks, changed direction and learned something worth sharing. From athletes and entrepreneurs to creators, coaches and everyday young people, every guest brings a different story and perspective.

We talk about the things young people are actually dealing with such as mental health, identity, relationships, career pressure, money, family expectations, purpose and the uncertainty that comes with working life out as you go.

There’s no sugar coating, no preaching and no pretending that anyone has all the answers. Guests share the hard parts as well as the wins: what they went through, how it shaped them and what helped them move forward.

Switched On is aimed at young people aged 18 - 28 who are curious, ambitious, searching or simply looking for proof that they’re not alone. Sometimes, one honest conversation or a different perspective is all it takes to switch something on.

Powered by Happiness Co Foundation. Built by young people, for young people.

Today we were joined by a young, ambitious lad by the name of Myles"Stallion" Guazzelli.

With aspirations of creating a Father-Son course to combat the issue of troubled youth and sources of toxic masculinity, he talkes about the importance of having a reliable masculine role model in such an important stage of development in life, particularly in today's world.

The persistance and wealth of knowledge this guy has at the age of 16 is something that we advocate highly at Switched On and we are excited to see what's in store for Myles in the future!

As always, we hope you enjoy! Be sure to follow the channel, rate 5 stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 and share with friends and family :)

This morning we are joined by a good friend Hannah Morcombe, who is thriving in her own line of work as she has her own business called Innerglow Guide, which focuses on yoga, meditation, mindfulness and self-connection.
Additionally, she is technically back at the Happiness Co as she is working with us in the Reach workshops and we wanted to get her in the booth to have a yarn with her today!

Han is such a calm person to be around and this conversation truly inspired us to look more into how we might be able to apply some of her easy tips and tricks to dive deeper such areas that most of us tend to avoid, that being mindfullness, self-connection...etc.

We hope you guys get as much out of it as we did and if you want to see what's coming up for Han & Innterglow Guide check out the links below!

Good to finally be back again!
The podcast was put on hold with Brayden taking his turn to go on a little holiday to the Goldcoast!
And it's for that reason that we wanted to go in the booth and talk about his time away, uncovering some unreal experiences, building new relationships and breaking out of the normal routine (which for Brayden is a big step out of his comfort zone).

With that said, we hope to get the momentum of the poddy back up and running, especially with guests soon so stay tuned!

Remember to share the Switched On channel with friends and fam, give us a follow and rating (5 stars pls) and we'll catch ya in the next one :)

We might be very late to the party, but today we share how we're all aboard running trend that is taking over Australia, and the our favourite tips as to how you can get started on your running journey today!
You might have heard the buzz words, "Run clubs are the new dating apps", which they are proving to do so as the wide range of run clubs throughout Australia are bringing the community together in a healthy, fun way.
Even if you're just starting out, there's something for everyone!

Our go to run club is with the crew at The Early Ones on Sunday mornings in Scarborough, but there are plenty of others during the week all around Perth.

We would also like to give a big shout out to Louis Phillips and the team at INTVL who have just built an app which is the newest running coach in your pocket! Offering you personalised running programs and a community section to connect with people along your running journey, ticking the legs over has never been easier!
Get in whilst the launch offer is still available!

Hope y'all enjoy the episode!

Today we welcome Michael Smith, CMO of UseVerb, a Perth start-up back in 2016 with the aim of changing the way we apply for jobs. They’re doing this through things like video cover letters that showcase an individuals personality before their experience!

We find  this super interesting at Switched On as it’s great for our younger audience who might not actually have much experience in the workplace.

This was one of our favourite episodes to record and we are super excited to see where UseVerb goes into the future!

Definetly go check out their website

Reach is Australia’s top youth organisation, helping young people become more confident, self-aware and passionate as they are empowered to shape their own lives.
Lou’s experience with Reach extends over a decade and for good reason as she is a passionate leader, professional and friend and we are super excited to have a yarn with her in this episode!

Go check out the Reach website for more info on the impact they have with over 40,000 young people each year!

We welcome back a guest this morning with a good friend Taj Schofield!

We talk plenty about how footy is a great metaphor for life as his dreams came true when he got drafted into the AFL to play for Port Adelaid, enjoying all the highs that were involved with that experience.
However, with the highs also means having to ride out the lows as Taj had to deal with injuries, selection and the expectation of being a professional athlete, which is a heavy responsibility to handle for any young person.

Since coming out of the AFL, the goal is still to play footy at his highest level but whilst enjoying the wide range of opportunities that life throws his way.

We really enjoyed this episode and we hope you do as well! Remember to follow the channel, rate 5 stars and share with friends and family!

We jumped in the booth quickly this morning to have a yarn about the topic:
Getting the most out of life.

It may seem a bit existential or ambitious, but there are so many distractions that mislead and even prevent us from living our best lives.

From the abundance of opportunities we have to do extraordinary things in todays world, it is so easy to get drawn into the way society expects you to live, which is to work a 9-5, go to university...etc. These are all things that limit satisfaction and fulfilment you experience from your life.

From practicing gratitude, to demanding more and doing challenging things, we talk about a few different ways you can soak up more from lifes opportunities so that when you look back in the future, you're satisfied knowing that you made the most out of each and everyone of lifes experiences!

Essentially, yolo haha

As usual, we hope you enjoy the episode! Remember to follow the channel, rate 5 stars and share with friends and family!

It's good to be back in the booth after taking a quick break as Tom was on a holiday in Japan!

We're excited to get the mometum back of consistent poddy episodes and we thought a good way of doing so would be to do a quick Tell Me More Q&A episode!

A questionnaire was shared on socials and there was some really good questions that came through, so thank you to those who sent them through!
We did our best to answer them and make it fun :)

As always, we hope you enjoy! Remember to share with friends and family, follow the channel and rate 5 stars plssss
