Switched On

Switched On is a podcast for young people who are still figuring out who they are, where they’re going and what they want from life.

Hosted by Slade Hoare and Chi Yin, the show brings together raw, honest conversations with people who have faced challenges, taken risks, changed direction and learned something worth sharing. From athletes and entrepreneurs to creators, coaches and everyday young people, every guest brings a different story and perspective.

We talk about the things young people are actually dealing with such as mental health, identity, relationships, career pressure, money, family expectations, purpose and the uncertainty that comes with working life out as you go.

There’s no sugar coating, no preaching and no pretending that anyone has all the answers. Guests share the hard parts as well as the wins: what they went through, how it shaped them and what helped them move forward.

Switched On is aimed at young people aged 18 - 28 who are curious, ambitious, searching or simply looking for proof that they’re not alone. Sometimes, one honest conversation or a different perspective is all it takes to switch something on.

In our first relaunch episode, Slade and Chi Yin sit down together and get honest, about where they've come from, what they've been through, and why they're here.

No guests. Just two young men with real stories, sharing what they wish someone had told them when they were younger.
The tools, the struggles, the mindset shifts, and why they believe that one conversation can change everything.

"You're the youngest you'll ever be."

Welcome to the first episode of Switched On!

We are pleased to be joing in by the CEO and Founder of Integrated Support Solutions, Sam Hallam!
Sam is passionate about supporting people with disability. As an amputee, Sam is aware of the daily challenges posed to those living with a disability. However, as a former elite level athlete he understands that one’s ability to succeed is only limited by their imagination, pushing to establish more of a presence in the community to open conversations around disability and challenge the expectations of what’s possible.

Sam has a wealth of experience working alongside young people, both in the disability and youth justice space, and understands the importance of working in conjunction with families, service providers, and organisations to ensure participants are given the opportunity to achieve their goals.

In this episode we are joined by an absolute ball of energy! He’s doing this, he’s doing that…he honestly does it all and we don’t know how he does it – neither does he probably. Luke A J is one of Perth’s very known figures in the health and wellbeing space, with his involvement within the likes of Cold Nips, The 440 run club, Lululemon…the list goes on!

We are very grateful to have him in this morning for our 2nd episode this week dedicated to Men’s Mental Health Week, where this year’s theme is: Mental Health Check-Ups!

We were able to dive into his diverse upbringing and how his journey so far has shaped his "can do" approach to life! His personal philosophy of understanding one's self helps us appreciate this perspective and can be applied to your life right now.

Be sure to check out what Luke is up to with the links below:

We are grateful to be joined by a good mate of ours, as well as a fellow employee at Happiness Co, Barry "Baz" Hamilton!

This week's episode is a special one as we are dedicating it to Men's Mental Health Week (10th-16th of June), where we are focusing on this year's theme: Getting a Check Up.

Barry shared a lot about his own personal journey and it's inspiring to see how far he has come as a result of becoming more self-aware and taking action by getting a check up!

We hope you enjoy the episode! Please remember to take care of yourself, get a check up (even if you think you're ok and don't need one), take care and check in with your mates, and share this episode with someone who you think needs to hear something like this!

Today we were joined by a young, ambitious lad by the name of Myles"Stallion" Guazzelli.

With aspirations of creating a Father-Son course to combat the issue of troubled youth and sources of toxic masculinity, he talkes about the importance of having a reliable masculine role model in such an important stage of development in life, particularly in today's world.

The persistance and wealth of knowledge this guy has at the age of 16 is something that we advocate highly at Switched On and we are excited to see what's in store for Myles in the future!

As always, we hope you enjoy! Be sure to follow the channel, rate 5 stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 and share with friends and family :)
